How It All Began
During a period covering 2010 and 2011 a number of meetings and consultations were held within the Community of Bo’ness to establish the best way forward to get the best out of Newtown Park Stadium for the benefit of the People of Bo’ness.
In March 2012, The Newtown Park Association was formed with a mandate to bring back Newtown Park into the hands of the Community of Bo’ness and to convert the Stadium into a multi- use sport, recreational and social facility that could be used by the community irrespective of their age and gender.
The Newtown Park Association, a Private Company, limited by Guarantee and Scottish Registered Charity took ownership of Newtown Park in (date) through an asset transfer with Falkirk Council.

Where We Are At This Time
Plans for Phase 1 of the project, to install a synthetic playing surface (3g), floodlights and temporary community changing facilities, were put into motion in 2017 and after grants were obtained from Falkirk Council and Sportscotland in 2018 the project was ready to start, however delays and unforeseen ground problems, which resulted in additional funding requirements, delayed the start. However work began in early 2019 and in September 2019 the new floodlit pitch was opened for use by the Bo’ness footballing community.
The new pitch and floodlights are in full use by the two Senior Football Teams, as well as the successful Community Football Club who have had the opportunity to grow their numbers and provides a venue for young people in Bo’ness to participate in an active sport with the added benefits to their health, wellbeing and self-confidence.
Our Plan For The Future
The next goal of Newtown Park Association, Phase 2, is to provide a Community Hub and consultations have been carried out throughout the Community to establish what facilities are required for social, recreational and community activities.
Grant Funding was successfully obtained and a design team was appointed in mid-2020 to produce a design that will not only support the activities on the pitch but with adaptable community space that will serve as a resource for the many varied social and recreational activities to suit all ages and genders within Bo’ness and beyond.
The design was completed in the spring of 2021 and a process was then put in place secure grant funding to progress the project to the next stage.
The most important outcome of this venture is that the facility belongs to the People of Bo’ness. This Stadium has a great history and we hope by transforming Newtown Park into a Community Stadium it will have great future. Whether you play an organized sport, wish to participate in walking football, or want somewhere to meet with other people, come along to Newtown Park Stadium where you will be made most welcome.
