The Newtown Park Community Foundation is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of supporting Newtown Park. In 2002, when the Foundation was established by community members, the park was owned by Fulton County and in great need of improvements and further development. The original goals of the Foundation included:

  1. Renovation of the Historic Newtown School for community activities and public meeting space.

  2. Enhancement of the park environment by developing passive retreat and garden areas.

  3. Expansion of the park by acquiring additional land.

In addition to those goals, the Foundation has developed more immediate ones which include several ongoing improvement projects: the renovation of the Newtown Community House; construction of a recreation storage building; and improvements to the pond area.
